Tak a je to tu! Prišiel prvý máj, sviatok práce a s ním X. ročník veterán Tatra  rally Bratislava.
Boli sme pozvaní od predsedu klubu Tatra 141 na ich značkový zraz. Prečo nie, povedali sme si  a hajde do veľkého mesta na stretnutie. Počasie nám hlásili nádherné a brali sme to ako príjemné spestrenie štátneho sviatku. Ubytovanie bolo zabezpečené v hoteli na Kamzíku a jeho kvalitu nemohol nik spochybňovať. Jedla a pitia bolo dostatok a atmosféra fantastická. Večer spríjemňovala hudba akoby vystrihnutá z čias dávno zašlých.

So it is here! 1st of May arrived, the labour day and also a day when 10th annual Bratislava Tatra old timer rally takes place. We were invited by the chairman of the Tatra 141 club to their rally. Why not? That´s what we thought and we headed to a big city for a meeting. The forecast promised a beautiful weather and we took it as a pleasant way to spent the state holiday. Our accomodation was booked in a hotel on Kamzík and nobody could quiestion its qualities. Plenty of food and drinks and the atmosphere was fantastic. The evening was also filled with a music from the past. 

Štart stretnutia bol na námestí a bolo veľmi zaujímavé sledovať to množstvo nákladných automobilov (mimochodom nielen zo Slovenska) ako sa predierajú centrom hlavného mesta. Každý účastník raly dostal itinerár s presnými pokynmi ako postupovať a kam na akej križovatke zabočiť. Keď sme sa dostali k štartu my, komentátor prehodil pár slov a bolo odštartované. Prvá vpravo, potom vpravo, na semafore rovno a ...viac som si nezapamätal. Keďže pokyny boli spracované tak aby sa zabavil aj spolujazdec, veľmi rýchlo sme sa vo veľkom meste stratili. Našťastie benzínu sme mali dosť a na motocykloch sa uháňa ďaleko ľahšie, ako na Tatre 141. O pár minút sa nám podarilo zorientovať sa a dohnať časovú stratu. Ďalej sme sa už snažili nestratiť z dohľadu aspoň jedno autíčko. Trasa viedla cez Devín, Stupavu, Záhorskú Ves, Lozorno na Bratislavský hrad a späť na Kolibu a Kamzík. Kým sme prišli po hrad, bolo všetko v najlepšom poriadku, no pri odchode z hradu sme chytili červenú a boli sme presne tam kde ráno. Autíčka nám odbehli a my sme sa preštrikovávali jednosmernými uličkami veľkej Bratislavy. Našťastie obrovská veža vysielača na Kamzíku je dostatočný orientačný bod vyčnievajúci nad všetko v okolí. V cieli nás už čakalo obrovské množstvo divákov, ktorí si prišli spríjemniť nádherný večer v okúzľujúcej atmosfére. Mažoretky odmávali štart aj cieľ veľmi vydareného stretnutia. Večer sme už strávili v hoteli Best Western. Jedlo, pitie, stará hudba a príjemná atmosféra až do skorých ranných hodín. Stretnutie sa určite podarilo. Do cieľa dorazili všetky posádky, počasie bolo nádherné a tých pár zakopnutí pri zlom odbočení určite nikoho nenahnevalo. Zorganizovať takúto akciu zaberie určite obrovský kus času a úsilia. Chcem sa poďakovať organizátorom, veď kde na zraze stretnete veľké úžitkové autá. Z našich ciest vymizli zo dňa na deň, ale partia chalanov z klubu Tatra 141 už zachránila nejeden kus histórie. Najbližšie pripravujú renováciu Tatry 147 DC5.

The start of the meeting was on the square and it was so interesting to watch such number of lorries (not only from Slovakia) driving through the centre of the capital city. Each rider got a detailed itinerary with precise steps where to go and which turn to take on the crossings. We got to the start, the speaker spoke few words and the ride began. First to the right, then right again, straight on the traffic lights...and that is all I could remember. Since the schedule was made also to keep the co-rider in a mood, we got lost in the city really quick. Fortunately we had a lot of petrol and it is much easier to ride in the city on a motorcycle than in a Tatra 141. Few minutes later we managed to get back on the track and catch up with others. Later on we just tried to keep up with at least one car to follow the others. The track lead through Devín, Stupava, Záhorská Ves, Lozorno to Bratislava castle and back to Koliba and Kamzík. It was alright till we got to the castle...then we got a red light when we were leaving the castle and we were back where we started in the morning. The cars ran away and we had to get through the one way streets of big Bratislava. Luckily the huge tower of Kamzík transmitter is a great orientation point standing out of everything around. A great number of viewers waited for us in the finish enjoying the fascinating atmosphere of the evening. The cheerleaders waved off the start and the finish of an outstanding rally. We spent the evening in the Bern Western hotel and enjoyed the food, drinks, old time music and the pleasant atmosphere until morning. The meeting went great. All crews made it to the finish, the weather was great and those small mistakes during the ride surely did not spoil the mood. Organizing such event takes a lot of time and effort. I want to thank the organizers, where else on the rally could I see such big vehicles. They dissapeared from the roads within just few days but a bunch of guys from Tatra 141 club have saved many pieces of history. They plan to restore the old Tatra 147 DC5.

"Autíčko" sa im podarilo objaviť v Španielsku a dlhých 9 rokov presviedčali majiteľa aby ho pustil domov. Tento rok absolvovala Tatra trať na trajleri, ale o rok už bude brázdiť naše cesty po svojich.

They found the lorry in Spain and it took them 9 years to convince the owner to let it go back home. This year it drove only on the trailer, but next year it will roam the roads alone.
